Evidence Based Medicine

There is an increasing number of clinical studies, health claims and statistical data available causing the decision-making process difficult for clinicians. One of the key interests of Australian Medical Research is evidence-based medicine (EBM) and randomised clinical trials, which is in the forefront of decision-making process for therapeutic interventions leading to new standard of patient care.

Evidence based medicine is a systematic approach to clinical problem-solving which integrates best available research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. Evidence based medicine helps to promote methods that work; and to eliminate practices that are ineffective and harmful. Australian Medical Research is keen to deliver randomised clinical trials in a wide range of therapeutic areas. Randomised controlled clinical trials are considered as the gold standard for investigating the effectiveness of treatments and they provide the highest level of evidence.
